Etihad Puts Its First Dreamliner Into Service

DSC_0382Etihad Airways announced the debut of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The carrier introduced the aircraft, a 787-9, on its service from Abu Dhabi to Düsseldorf.  Flights depart Abu Dhabi at 2:15 a.m. and arrive in Düsseldorf at 6:40 a.m., with flights from Düsseldorf to Abu Dhabi departing at 10:20 a.m. and arriving at 7:50 p.m.

The Dreamliner’s First Suite promises passengers complete privacy and includes a minibar.  The 787 has eight suites in first class, with a bed length of 80” and a seat width of 29.5”, as well as 28 Business Studios, all with direct-aisle access and an 80.5” fully lie-flat bed.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is the second member of the Dreamliner family to be produced.  Similar to the 787-8, the stretched jet uses 20% less fuel and produces 20% fewer emissions than similar-sized airplanes.

The 787-9 is 20’ (six meters) longer than the 787-8 and can seat 16% more passengers.  It has a range of 8,300 nautical miles (15,372 kilometers), while the 787-8 is limited to 7,850 nautical miles (14,500 kilometers).
