DSC_4940Delta Air Lines announced it will begin operating Boeing 717s on its shuttle between San Francisco International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport in June. The carrier will use the planes on eight of its 15 daily flights between the two cities.

Delta’s Boeing 717 aircraft can accommodate 110 passengers in two cabins.  The first-class cabin has 12 seats in a 2-2 configuration. Each seat is 19.6” wide with a pitch of 37”.  Delta’s premium economy light section, Economy Comfort, has standard coach seats with widths of 18.1” and pitches of 34”, while the seats in coach are pitched at 31.”

Delta’s other seven daily flights between San Francisco and Los Angeles will continue to be operated by Delta Connection partner Compass Airlines, using Embraer E175 planes, with seating for up to 76 passengers.

The news follows the announcement that the carrier would begin operating 717s between Los Angeles and Portland and Los Angeles and Las Vegas, with three and four daily non-stop trips respectively, also in June.  The Atlanta-based airline will also be operating the 717 on one non-stop flight linking Salt Lake City and Kansas City and Salt Lake City and Las Vegas.
