Winter Storm to Bring Snow, Freezing Rain to the Northeast

2015-01-21 12.39.35Another winter storm is moving in on the Northeast United States, and is expected to bring as much as ten inches of snow to some places in the region throughout the weekend.

The storm has the potential to disrupt many flights over the weekend, and the National Weather Service has already issued a Winter Weather Advisory in numerous cities, with driving conditions expected to be hazardous in many of the affected areas.

In Washington, D.C., a combination of rain, sleet, freezing rain, and snow is expected to hit Friday night, with between 1” and 2” of accumulation by Saturday.  Baltimore, Maryland will experience similar conditions, although may see between 2” and 4” of snow, as well as 0.1” of ice accumulation by Saturday.

In Philadelphia, between 1” and 3” of snow is expected on Friday, with a potential 0.1” of ice accumulation from freezing rain possible on Saturday.  Meanwhile, New York City could see between 2” and 4” of snow by the end of Friday, with an additional 1” to 2” of snow, sleet, and freezing rain on Saturday.

In Boston, the storm could bring up to 6” of snow on Saturday, while Portland, Maine, may see as much as 10” of the white stuff by the end of Saturday.
