Living room in the author’s suite

The living room was outfitted with couches, armchairs, a large flat screen TV, and an electric fireplace, and offered access to a private balcony, which provided views of the forest. When I first stepped outside, I scanned the woods for any signs of a bear (without any success, I should add), as the bellman had told us that one had recently been spied in the vicinity.

Separated from the living room by a set of double doors, the bedroom had twin beds and a bathroom, a practical and suitable accommodation for children.

A wooden-beamed staircase led upstairs, where a bedroom with a queen size bed and walk-in closet awaited.

Down a hall the first of the two upstairs bathrooms had a walk-in shower as well as a washing machine and dryer, which were neatly concealed.

Next door was the spacious master bedroom, which offered a king size bed, bathroom, and a walk-in closet. Ornate lamps stood on tables flanking the bed, and a hand spun glass pitcher and glasses were thoughtfully provided bedside. Two plush bathrobes had been placed on the king size bed, which had a sitting area at its foot with two cozy armchairs facing a TV and a working fireplace.

The master bedroom’s bathroom had beautiful wood paneling, and its bath had a two-person soaking tub in the corner, along with a smaller walk-in shower. Large windows offered views of the forest, further enhancing the get-away-from-it-all atmosphere.
