Delta to Launch Los Angeles-Shanghai Service in July

DSC_0498Delta Air Lines announced it will begin to offer non-stop daily service connecting Los Angeles and Shanghai, China this summer.

The new flights will depart Los Angeles International Airport at 1:15 p.m. local time and arrive at Shanghai-Pudong Airport at 6:15 p.m. the next day. Total flight time is 14 hours.  Return flights will depart Shanghai at 8:55 p.m. and arrive in Los Angeles at 6:15 p.m. the same day.

Delta will operate the service using Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.  The plane has 37 fully lie-flat business-class seats in the BusinessElite cabin, as well as 36 seats in Delta’s premium economy lite section and 219 coach seats.

The service is subject to approval by the U.S. Department of Transportation and Chinese aviation regulators.  The Shanghai flight is Delta’s fourth to the Asia-Pacific region from Los Angeles.  Other destinations include Tokyo-Narita, Tokyo-Haneda, and Sydney.

Including the new service, Delta will offer 42 flights to Shanghai from the United States including departures from Detroit, Seattle, and San Francisco.
