United Airlines, which launched the first-ever non-stop service between North America and Chengdu, China earlier this year, announced that it would operate that flight on a daily basis next year from June for three months.  The Chicago-based airline also said it will add a second daily non-stop flight from San Francisco to Shanghai.

Daily non-stop service to Chengdu will operate from June 4 through September 1, 2015.  Currently, United offers the service three times a week.  The second Shanghai flight will operate from May 6 through October 24.

Flight 9 to Chengdu will depart San Francisco at 1:20 p.m. local time, arriving at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport at 6:40 p.m. the following day.  Flight 8 departs Chengdu at 9:50 a.m. and arrives in San Francisco at 8:30 a.m. the same day.

All United flights to Chengdu are operated with a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.  The plane features 36 fully lie-flat seats in the BusinessFirst cabin and 183 in coach, including 70 Economy Plus premium economy lite seats with additional legroom.

Flight 891 to Shanghai will depart San Francisco at 2:40 p.m., arriving at Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 7:00 p.m. the following day.  Flight 890 departs from Shanghai at 9:00 p.m. and arrives in San Francisco at 5:40 p.m. the same day.

The Shanghai flight will operate using a Boeing 777-200.  The plane has eight fully lie-flat seats in United Global First, 40 fully lie-flat seats in BusinessFirst, and 221 seats in coach, including 104 Economy Plus seats.

Both flights are subject to government approval.
