T-Mobile USA announced a dramatic increase in network speed in the New York metropolitan area.

The mobile operator introduced Wideband LTE, a service that promises to increase download speeds in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, and northern New Jersey to as much as 100 Mbps.

The Seattle-based company said it would soon offer Wideband LTE in Westchester County including White Plains and Scarsdale as well as central New Jersey.

The service is currently available in 26 markets including Atlanta, Georgia; Birmingham, Alabama; Dallas, Texas; Honolulu, Hawaii; Jacksonville and Orlando, Florida; Los Angeles, California; Minneapolis, Minnesota;, and Seattle, Washington.

T-Mobile also offers Voice over LTE or VoLTE in several markets including Atlanta, Georgia; Boston, Massachusetts; Dallas, Texas; New York City and Long Island, New York; Los Angeles, California; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; San Francisco, California; Seattle, Washington; and Washington, D.C.  Voice over LTE places calls over the LTE network instead of the slower voice network and benefits include faster call setup times and what T-Mobile calls HD Voice service, which provides improved call clarity.
