Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of the St. Regis Chengdu in the capital of Sichuan province in Southwest China on Friday.

The new hotel is within walking distance of Tianfu Square and the Chun Xi Road retail district of the city.

The hotel has 279 guestrooms and suites, all with St. Regis Butler Service. Amenities include high-speed Internet access, 46” LCD televisions, Bose sound systems, and Simmons mattresses, and the bath areas have deep soaking tubs and separate rainforest showers. All of the suites have separate bedrooms and many have a dining area that can seat six.

Vantage XXVII, on the 27th floor, offers panoramic views of the city’s skyline along with a champagne bar and live entertainment. The Drawing Room serves afternoon tea, cocktails, and snacks, while the Decanter wine bar’s master sommelier offers a monthly wine class.

Other dining venues include Social, a family-style restaurant; Yun Fu, which offers four private dining rooms; and Yan Ting, the hotel’s signature Chinese restaurant, which offers authentic Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine.

The property also has over 4,265 square feet (396 square meters) of meeting and event space.

The St. Regis Chengdu also offers guests a choice of several local experiences including a visit to the Dujiangyan Giant Panda Breeding Center, a park and research institution that has played a major role in saving the panda.
