Even Hotels Norwalk, Connecticut – Review
NORWALK – InterContinental Hotel Group’ Even hotel in Norwalk, Connecticut is of its kind in world. With the hotel’s opening in June, the chain didn’t just introduce a new brand; rather, it introduced a new philosophy in the hotel industry. The concept is simple but at the same time revolutionary. Think of a mix of boutique, spa and hip combined with the message to keep active and stay healthy.
I arrived at the hotel on a busy Thursday afternoon in October, yet the parking lot in front of the hotel was barely half-full. Once inside I was greeted and welcomed by a Keep Active Host who thoughtfully presented a refreshing glass of fruit-infused water which, after my two-hour trip from New York City, was certainly appreciated. After check-in formalities were accomplished, the host coded a smart bracelet to my room and I was on my way.
My room was located on the third floor, and as I walked through the hallway I noticed that, in keeping with the brand name, only even numbers were assigned to the rooms. Using the smart bracelet I entered the room and found that was split into two distinct areas.
The living area included a wardrobe, a refrigerator, a desk and a flat screen television screen which were located opposite the queen size bed. Two attractive ottomans below the television screen could also serve as luggage racks.
The in-room gym area offered ample exercise space and included a variety of exercise ropes, a gym ball and a large mirror to monitor one’s exercises. The workout area floor was covered with cork and the living area used carpet squares.
The bathroom was behind a glass door and was equipped with a large walk-in shower with sliding glass doors that made it possible to turn on the shower and set water temperature before entering. Towel and robe hooks were conveniently situated directly next to the shower door. Large refillable bottles of EO bath products with four different fragrances were also provided.
