DSC_0382Etihad announced the arrival of two new aircraft types, the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Both planes, carrying the new “Facets of Abu Dhabi” livery, were unveiled to the public in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

The A380 is the first of the airline’s planes to have the Residence, a 125-square-foot (11.6-square-meter) suite occupying the forward portion of the upper deck. The Residence offers its occupants a living room, private shower, and bedroom, with dedicated butler service.   The Airbus aircraft also offers the First Apartment, a private space with a reclining lounge chair and ottoman, the latter of which converts to a separate, 80.5” fully lie-flat bed.  The A380 also has 70 Business Studios on the upper deck.

The Dreamliner’s First Suite promises passengers complete privacy and includes a minibar.  The plane’s center seats can be joined to create a double bed.  The 787 has 28 Business Studios, all with direct-aisle access and an 80.5” fully lie-flat bed.

The airline will conduct test flights with the A380 and 787 until the launch of service on December 27, 2014 and February 1, 2015 respectively.
