DSC_0514Delta Air Lines announced an expansion of its partnership with low-cost carrier WestJet Airlines.

The changes, which go into effect on the first of the year, will give customers of both airlines access to a larger network across the globe.

Under the expanded partnership, members of both airlines’ frequent flyer programs will receive additional benefits.  Delta SkyMiles members and WestJet Rewards members will be eligible to receive SkyMiles or WestJet dollars on all mutually codeshared flights operated by the two carriers.

The move will give Delta customers more non-stop flights from the United States to destinations in Canada, including Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver and additional opportunities for connections to additional destinations via Canada.

The two airlines announced a codeshare agreement on flights within the United States and Canada back in 2012 and an interline agreement in 2011.
