DSC_0419BMW announced it will launch the ConnectedDrive Store, an in-vehicle app and services store.  The store will launch in the spring of 2015.

ConnectedDrive Store will offer drivers the opportunity to purchase apps and services from within iDrive, the system used to control most secondary functions such as navigation and entertainment within the vehicle.

BMW is the first automaker to offer an in-vehicle store, which resembles app stores for Apple iOS and Android platforms.

The store, which has been available in Europe since 2013, will offer navigation map updates and Internet service as well as short-term purchases of the Concierge service, which provides personal assistance to drivers in search of a hotel, restaurant, movie, or show, among other things.

Information about purchased services will be available via iDrive.  Once an app is purchased, it can be used immediately.
