Alaska Airlines announced the launch of AlaskaBeyond Entertainment, the carrier’s new in-flight entertainment service.

The service allows passengers to watch recently released movies and TV shows on their personal Wi-Fi-enabled electronic devices during flights.

All content on AlaskaBeyond Entertainment is complimentary through January 31, 2015.  Beginning February 1, 2015, premium content on the service will be available starting at $1.99, at which point the airline will offer passengers approximately 30 hours and 100 short videos for free.

AlaskaBeyond Entertainment is currently available on 50 of the airline’s 737 planes.  The carrier plans to equip a majority of its fleet with the service by April of next year.
