DSC_4872A Toronto-bound Air Canada flight en route from London had to divert to Halifax Wednesday after a female passenger allegedly assaulted two flight attendants.

The airline said in a tweet that Flight 869 had diverted due to an “unruly passenger.”  The plane remained in Halifax for approximately three hours before continuing on to Toronto.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police boarded the aircraft at Halifax Stanfield International Airport and arrested a 30-year-old South African woman, according to a statement from the department.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that a female passenger allegedly assaulted two flight attendants during the flight,“ the RCMP said in a statement, adding that the investigation was “ongoing.”
