U.S. Airlines Expect More Flyers This Thanksgiving
Industry Forecasts 25 Million Passengers Over 12-Day Period
More travelers will fly over the river and above the woods to grandmother’s house this Thanksgiving holiday as compared to last year.
According to figures released by Airlines for America, a trade group, 24.6 million passengers are expected to travel on U.S. airlines during the 12-day Thanksgiving travel period, a 1.5% increase over the same period last year. Ten percent of those passengers will fly internationally.
The increase, according to the association, comes in part from the continued affordability of air travel as well as improvements the airlines have made in their products and services.
This year, the holiday travel period starts November 21 and runs through December 2. The busiest days are expected to be November 26, November 30, and December 1, while the lightest will be Thanksgiving Day, November 27, and Black Friday, November 28.
