Fraport AG, the owner and operator of Frankfurt Airport, announced results for October 2014.

The airport’s passenger traffic for the month increased 1.4% year-over-year to 5.5 million passengers.  The rise occurred despite approximately 1,100 strike-related flight cancellations at the airport, which affected nearly 137,500 passengers.

The strikes did result in an overall decline in aircraft movements however, with a 1.5% drop in October 2014, for a total of 41,947 takeoffs and landings.

The airport also reported a year-over-year increase of 1.1% in cargo tonnage, with 188,062 metric tons of cargo passing through the airport in October.
