United Airlines announced operational results for September 2014.

The Chicago-based carrier said its consolidated traffic and capacity were both slightly down year-over-year.  The airline’s consolidated load factor was up 0.2 percentage points compared to September 2013.

Total system traffic was 16.63 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, down 0.2% from September 2013.  Meanwhile, total capacity was down by 0.4% to 20.05 billion available seat miles, or ASMs.

The airline’s consolidated load factor was 82.9%, an increase of 0.2 percentage points from 82.7% in September 2013.

Domestic flying and Latin America were bright spots for United.  Its domestic load factor was up 0.6 percentage points to 86%, while Latin America rose 2.2 percentage points to 81.4%.  Meanwhile, the Atlantic and Pacific divisions both saw declines.
