DSC_0424Swiss International Air Lines announced plans to open its first pop-up restaurant on a flight in November.

The airline is partnering with Chef Andreas Caminada, a well-known Swiss chef, on a flight from Zurich to New York on November 21.  Passengers on board Flight 16 will receive a meal prepared on board by Caminada.  The chef will personally serve his dishes with the assistance of his staff, and the food will be offered in first class, business class, and economy.

The meal will be a “culinary journey,” according to Swiss.  The dinner service will be paired with wines selected by the chef.

The chef’s restaurant is in a boutique hotel, Schauenstein Schloss, in Fürstenau, a small city in the Graubünden canton.  It is considered by many to be one of the finest restaurants in the world.

The idea for the restaurant was Caminada’s.  “The idea of a pop-up restaurant came out of my curiosity,” he said in a statement.  The project “will be a real experience for me and my team,” he added.
