DSC_0164IndiGo, a low cost Indian carrier, announced an order for 250 Airbus A320neo planes. The purchase, valued at approximately $25.7 billion dollars at list price, is the largest single order of aircraft that Airbus has received.

The order includes purchase rights for an additional 100 A320 aircraft.

IndiGo is scheduled to take delivery of the planes between 2018 and 2026.

The low cost carrier purchased 100 A320s in 2005 and 180 A320neos in 2011. Both were record orders at the time.

The A320neo aircraft will incorporate many innovations by including the latest generation engines and large Sharklet wingtip devices. By the first day, Airbus promises these innovations to cut back on fuel usage by 15%. By 2020, the company promises to deliver 20% in fuel savings.
