DSC_0262Delta Air Lines announced it was raising one of its requirements for elite status, effective for the 2016 calendar year.

On Thursday, the Atlanta-based airline said it would raise its Medallion Qualification Dollar, or MQD, requirement for earning Medallion status.  Meeting MQD thresholds was first added to qualify for elite status for 2015.   MQDs measure a member’s annual spending on Delta flights.

The MQD requirement for Silver Medallion members will increase from $2,500 to $3,000, for Gold Medallion members from $5,000 to $6,000, for Platinum Medallion members from $7,500 to $9,000, and for Diamond Medallion members from $12,500 to $15,000.

The airline said that the $25,000 waiver for SkyMiles members holding an American Express card would continue.
