Aeromexico Reports Increase in September Traffic, Capacity
Aeromexico announced operational results for September 2014. The airline’s total system traffic increased 13.3% year-over-year, while it’s total capacity rose 8.7% from September 2013.
The Mexico City-based airline saw the greatest improvement in international operations. International traffic for September 2014 was 1.47 billion RPKs, or revenue passenger kilometers, an increase of 20.8% from last year’s 1.22 billion RPKs. Domestic traffic was 796 million RPKs, a 1.8% increase over 782 million in September of 2013.
International capacity increased 12.1% year-over-year, up to 1.82 billion available seat kilometers, or ASKs, from 1.62 billion in September 2013. Domestic capacity also rose, up 3.6% to 1.08 billion ASKS from 1.05 billion last year.
The airline had a total load factor of 78.4%, a 3.3 percentage point increase from September 2013. Aeromexico’s international load factor increased by 6 percentage points, up to 81.3% from 75.2%, while domestic load factor decreased 1.2 percentage points, down to 73.6% from last year’s 74.8%.
