Southwest Airlines unveiled a new corporate identity on Monday, complete with new aircraft livery and a new logo.

The new livery is named Heart, and Southwest said that it conducted research and held focus groups with employees and customers to garner input for the design.  The livery consists of the carrier’s classic striped tail, as well as the Southwest name displayed on the side of the fuselage, while the airline’s new Heart design is featured prominently on the belly of the aircraft.

Southwest’s fleet will be outfitted with the new livery according to the carrier’s existing repainting schedule.  New Southwest planes will be delivered in the new livery.

The new look marks the first time that the carrier has changed its livery since 2001.

Southwest will also debut redesigned in-flight materials, as well as a revamped in-flight magazine.  The airline will also launch an advertising campaign in celebration of the new look.
