Marriott announced its new, immersive 4-D virtual reality travel experience, the Teleporter.

The Teleporter is a phone booth-like structure that contains a virtual reality headset, wireless headphones, and multiple 4-D elements.  The device works by capturing 3-D, 360° live-action video, and mixing it with the 4-D elements, such as mist, heat, and wind.

Once they put on the headset, customers will experience a virtual version of a new Marriott Greatroom lobby.  They will then be transported to a black sand beach in Maui, followed by experiencing the top of a skyscraper in downtown London, all while feeling the 4-D elements of the machine.

The Teleporter will be at eight select Marriott properties through November, including the New York Marriott Marquis September 19 through the 23; the Boston Marriott Cambridge between September 26 and 29; the Marriott Marquis Washington DC between October 2 and 5; the Atlanta Marriott Marquis between October 9 and 12; the Dallas Marriott City Center between October 17 and 20; the San Diego Marriott Marquis between October 24 and 27; the San Jose Marriott between November 6 and 9l and the San Francisco Marriott Marquis November 13th through the 16th.
