Ethiopian Airlines announced an order for 20 Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft.  The order is valued at over $2.1 billion at list prices, and includes options and purchase rights for an additional 15 Max 8s.

The Boeing 737 Max uses CFM International Leap-1B engines and has new winglets, which provide a 14% improvement in fuel use over other single-aisle aircraft.  The planes also feature the new Boeing Sky Interior, with modern-sculpted sidewalls, new windows, LED lighting, and larger overhead bins.

To date, Boeing has received over 2,290 orders from 47 customers worldwide for the 737 Max.

Ethiopian Airlines is the flag carrier of Ethiopia, and serves more than 80 destinations across the globe.  The airline currently has over 50 Boeing aircraft in its fleet.
