Delta Air Lines announced plans Tuesday to launch a new route connecting Los Angeles, California with San Antonio, Texas.

The Atlanta-based airline will operate two daily non-stop flights between the two cities starting on April 7, 2015.  Delta recently announced plans to offer service between Los Angeles and Dallas and add an additional flight between Los Angeles and Austin, Texas.  The Dallas service begins November 3 and the third Austin flight starts the following day.

Flights will depart Los Angeles at 10:55 a.m. and 6:45 p.m., arriving at 3:55 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. respectively.  Flights from San Antonio to Los Angeles will leave at 8:05 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., arriving at 9:35 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Delta Connection carrier Compass Airlines will operate the new flights using Embraer 175 aircraft equipped with 12 first class seats, 12 standard seats in Delta’s premium economy lite section, and 52 standard seats in coach.  First-class seats are 20” wide with a seat pitch of 37” in a 1-2 configuration.  Standard seats are 18.25” wide and pitched at 31”.

Delta will have a total of nine daily flights linking Los Angeles and Texas once the San Antonio flights commence.

With a population of 1.4 million people, San Antonio is the second most populous city in Texas and the country’s seventh most populous city.
