Air China announced that it signed a codeshare agreement with Kunming Airlines that is set to take effect later this month.

Starting on September 15, China Airlines will be allowed to place its code on approximately 500 weekly Kunming Airlines-operated flights on 26 routes.  In addition, Kunming Airlines will be able to place its code on 9 Air China routes, consisting of approximately 210 weekly flights to most of China’s larger and medium-sized cities.

Air China is the flag carrier of China, and currently serves over 160 destinations in over 30 countries worldwide.  Earlier this year, the airline announced plans to begin a joint venture with German carrier Lufthansa.

Kunming Airlines was founded in 2007 and has its hub at Changshui International Airport.  The carrier has a fleet of 14 aircraft, and currently serves over 20 destinations in China.
