Aeromexico announced operational results for August 2014.  The airline’s total passenger traffic increased by 12.3% year-over-year, while its total capacity rose by 13.8% from August 2013.

The carrier’s international operations saw the greatest year-over-year improvement.  International traffic was 1.718 billion revenue passenger kilometers, or RPKs, an increase of 24.7% from 1.378 billion RPKs in the same month last year.  Domestic traffic was 939 million RPKs, an increase of 7.8% year-over-year from 872 million RPKs last year.

International capacity also rose 19.2% year-over-year, up to 2.046 billion available seat kilometers, or ASKs, from 1.716 billion ASKs in August 2013.  Domestic capacity rose 5.5% to 1.190 billion from 1.129 billion ASKs last year.

The airline’s international load factor was 84.2%, a year-over-year increase of 3.7 percentage points from 80.5% last August.  Domestic load factor also increased by 1.5 percentage points year-over-year, up to 79.1% from 77.7% last year.
