WestJet Reports Second Highest Ever Load Factor for July

WestJet Airlines announced operational results for July 2014.

Passenger load factor for the Calgary-based airline last month was 83.3%, a year-over-year increase of 0.2 percentage points from 83.1% in July 2013, and the second highest July load factor in the carrier’s history.

Passenger traffic in July was 1.873 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a year-over-year increase of 6.7% from 1.755 billion RPMs in the same period last year.  Capacity also rose by 6.6% year-over-year, up to 2.249 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 2.110 billion ASMs last year.

In addition to the year-over-year improvement in performance, WestJet also reported a new single-day record on July 31, when the airline transported 65,521 passengers.
