DSC_0438American Airlines announced it had reached an agreement with Orbitz for the travel website to resume selling the carrier’s flights.

The return of American Airlines fares on Orbitz is effective Friday.  The two companies signed a letter of intent earlier today.

American also said it no longer planned to remove US Airways’ flights from Orbitz on September 1.

On Tuesday, the airline had announced it would no longer sell tickets through Orbitz, saying it had been unable “to reach a deal with the economics that allow us to keep costs low and compete with low-cost carriers.”
