Winners and their guests were invited to take a short journey to Vienna, Austria for the 2014 GlobeRunner Awards gala luncheon on Tuesday, held at the Seäsonal Restaurant & Weinbar in New York City.

Amidst strains of Strauß waltzes performed by the Vienna Philharmonic, Frequent Business Traveler Editorial Director Jonathan Spira presented 26 awards to the world’s top travel companies.

The winners of the GlobeRunner Awards were determined by Frequent Business Traveler readers, who cast over 150,000 votes between March and May of this year, a 36% increase in votes compared to 2013.

The ceremony was attended by top travel company executives as well as winners of our Master Frequent Business Traveler essay contest.

The winners of the 2014 GlobeRunner Awards included (in order of presentation): Singapore Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Lufthansa, Etihad Airways, Singapore Changi Airport, Dubai International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, Star Alliance, Lufthansa Miles & More, Transaero Airlines, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Hilton HHonors, American Express Membership Rewards, AT&T, Expedia, FlyerTalk, Hertz, BMW, Google Maps, One Mile at a Time, and Frequent Miler.

Winners were welcomed to the event with a glass of Grüner Veltliner and traditional tastes of Austria including Liptauer cheese and a pumpkin seed spread.

The awards ceremony, accompanied by Wiener Schnitzel served tapas style, ran from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., concluding with Kaffee und Kuchen (coffee and cake), in this case the most famous of all Austrian cakes, a Sacher Torte, as well as Apfelstrudel.  The presentation ceremony ended with applause accompanying the traditional Radetzky March by Johann Strauß I.

Following the ceremony was a raffle for a flight to Moscow for two in business class on Transaero, two one-night stays at one of 550 Hilton properties across the globe, and five copies of The History of Photography written by S. F. Spira and Jonathan Spira.

Once again, we would like to thank our readers, without whom these awards would not have been possible, as well as the attendees of the event for being  part of a memorable afternoon.
