Frankfurt Airport Reports Traffic Up in June

Fraport AG, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, announced airport performance results for June and the first half of 2014.

The airport’s passenger traffic for the month was 5.6 million passengers, a year-over-year increase of 3.3% from June 2013. The month set a record as the busiest June in the airport’s history. Meanwhile, passenger traffic for the first half of the year was 27.8 million passengers, a year-over-year increase of 2.4% from the same period last year.

The number of aircraft movements in June saw a slight decrease of 0.4%, down to 41,949 takeoffs and landings. Aircraft movements for the first half of the year also dropped slightly, down 0.1% to 229,039 takeoffs and landings.

The airport also reported a year-over-year decrease of 3.5% in cargo tonnage for the month, with 178,384 metric tons of cargo passing through the airport in June. Meanwhile, cargo tonnage for the first half of the year increased by 2.2%, with 1.1 million metric tons of cargo passing through the airport in the first six months of 2014.
