Delta 747 Makes Emergency Landing in Tel Aviv After Flaps Problem
A New York-bound Delta Air Lines 747 declared an emergency shortly after takeoff from Ben Gurion Airport, and returned to Tel Aviv.
Delta Flight 469, with 370 passengers and 17 crew members on board, landed safely at Israel’s main international airport around 2:30 a.m. local time after the aircraft’s flaps failed to retract properly after takeoff.
Sources said the plane flew over the Mediterranean south of Cyprus for roughly 90 minutes, dumped fuel, and landed without issue.
The flight has been rescheduled as Delta 9859 and will depart Sunday at 10:30 p.m., 22 hours after its original departure.
