China Eastern Airlines Introduces Wi-Fi on Domestic Service

IMGP3728China Eastern Airlines announced that it has begun offering in-flight Wi-Fi access on select domestic flights.  The service is provided by China Telecom Satellite and Panasonic Avionics Corporation’s eXConnect system.

Wi-Fi is currently available on one of the airline’s Airbus A330 planes used to operate flights between Beijing and Shanghai.  The carrier plans to eventually install the service on 26 more aircraft in its fleet, including 20 Boeing 777 and six Boeing 767 planes, and to introduce the service on more domestic and international routes.

China Eastern Airlines was founded in 1988 and currently serves over 200 destinations in Asia, Australia, North America, and Europe.

Panasonic Avionics Corporation is the largest provider of in-flight entertainment and communications in the world.  A subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation of North America, the company was founded in 1979 and is based in Lake Forest, California.
