Aeromexico announced financial results for the second quarter of 2014. The airline’s operating profit for the period was 202 million Mexican pesos ($15.540 million), a year-over-year decline of 73% from 747 million pesos in the second quarter of 2013.

Revenue in the second quarter increased year-over-year by 9%, up to 10.356 billion pesos from 9.499 billion pesos in the same period last year.

Passenger traffic in the second quarter was 7.027 billion revenue passenger kilometers, or RPKs, a year-over-year increase of 21.6% from 5.777 billion RPKs last year.  Capacity also rose year-over-year by 17%, up to 8.923 billion available seat kilometers, or ASKs, from 7.626 billion ASKs last year.

Passenger load factor in the second quarter was 79.3%, a year-over-year increase of 3.4 percentage points from 75.9% in the second quarter of 2013.
