Aeromexico announced operational results for May 2014.

The Mexico City-based airline’s total system traffic for the month was 2.4 billion revenue passenger kilometers, or RPKs, a year-over-year increase of 25.2%, up from 1.9 billion in May 2013. Domestic traffic rose 15.9%, up to 893 million RPKs from 771 million last year, while international traffic rose 31.4%, up from 1.2 billion last year to 1.5 billion.

Total capacity for May, measured in available seat kilometers, or ASKs, also increased, up 19.8% year-over-year. Aeromexico’s domestic capacity was 1.2 billion ASKs, an increase of 7.2% from 1.0 billion in May 2013.  International capacity also increased, up 28.7% to 1.9 billion ASKs from 1.5 billion during May of last year.

The airline reported a system-wide load factor of 78.8%, a year-over-year increase of 3.3 percentage points. Domestic load factor increased by 5.5 percentage points, up from 72.1% to 77.7%, while on the international side of things, Aeromexico saw a 1.6 percentage point increase, up to 79.5% from last year’s 77.9%.
