LoungeBuddy, a travel app that locates and recommends airline lounges at specific airports based on user-defined criteria, announced the release of an Android version.  Previously, the app was only available for Apple’s iOS platform.

The eponymously-named app, using a user-created profile including flight class of service, lounge memberships, airline status, and credit cards held, will create a custom list of lounges available at an airport accessible both for free (based on the profile) or for a fee.

LoungeBuddy’s database has access rules for over 1,400 lounges in over 400 airports across the globe.  It also includes user-generated reviews and photos as well as ratings based on a four-star scale.

Simultaneously with the launch of the Android version of the app, the company announced it is holding a contest with Cathay Pacific and awarding a prize of two round-trip premium-economy tickets from the U.S. to Hong Kong as well as a private tour of Cathay Pacific’s lounges at Hong Kong International Airport and Marco Polo silver status with the airline.

Users of the app can enter the contest by clicking on the contest option when prompted.
