Hong Kong Airlines, Air India Begin Codeshare

DSC_4666Hong Kong Airlines and Air India announced that they have entered into a new codeshare agreement. The new agreement allows Hong Kong Airlines to place its code on select flights operated by Air India between Hong Kong and three major destinations in Asia.

The codeshare applies to daily flights between Hong Kong and Delhi, India; a thrice weekly flight between Hong Kong and Osaka, Japan; and flight between Hong Kong and Seoul, South Korea that will operate four times per week. The codeshare takes effect on flights to Delhi booked after June 10, and on flights to Osaka and Seoul booked after July 4.

Air India currently has codeshare partnerships with 12 other airlines including Eva Airways, China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, and Hainan Airlines. The new agreement is the first between Air India and a Hong Kong carrier.

Hong Kong Airlines was founded in 2001, and currently serves 24 destinations in mainland China, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. The airline has recently added new routes to Tianjin, China; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; and Kagoshima, Japan.
