Aeromexico Traffic, Capacity Up for April

DSC_0051Aeromexico announced operational results for April 2014.  The Mexico City-based airline reported a year-over-year increase of 23.8% in its total passenger traffic, while its total capacity also rose by 13.6%.

The airline’s international operations saw the greatest year-over-year improvement. International traffic was 1.402 billion revenue passenger kilometers, or RPKs, an increase of 29.3% from 1.084 billion in April 2013. Domestic traffic was 825 million RPKs, up 15.3% from 715 million RPKs last year.

International capacity was 1.749 billion available seat kilometers, or ASKs, an increase of 21.3% from 1.442 billion last year. The airline’s domestic capacity rose by 2.6%, up to 1.053 billion from 1.026 billion in 2013.

The airline reported an increase in load factor as well, with international numbers up by 4.8 percentage points to 80.4%, from 75.7% last year. Domestic load factor increased by 8.9 percentage points, to 78.8% from 69.8% in 2013. The total load factor for the airline was 79.8%, a year-over-year increase of 6.6 percentage points from 73.2%.
