Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts announced the opening of a new Shangri-La brand hotel in Yangon, Myanmar. The Sule Shangri-La, Yangon was previously known as the Traders Hotel, Yangon, and underwent two and a half years of extensive renovations to become a Shangri-La property.

The hotel has 484 guest rooms, each with a flat-screen TV, marble bathrooms, and complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access. The property also includes four restaurants and lounges, as well as a gourmet shop serving snacks, beverages, and baked goods.

Also located on the premises is an outdoor pool, a fitness center, and various meeting spaces spanning three floors of the hotel. The property also includes a 5,274-square-foot (490-square-meter) executive lounge for Horizon Club guests. The lounge has two private meeting rooms and offers amenities including personal check-in and late check-out services, free snacks and beverages throughout the day, and concierge service.

The Sule Shangri-La, Yangon is located in the city’s central business district, within walking distance of the Schwedagon Pagoda and the Yangon River. To celebrate its opening, the hotel is offering special discounted prices and double points for Golden Circle members for stays completed through July 31.

The new hotel is the first Shangri-La establishment to open in Myanmar. The hotelier plans to open another Shangri-La brand hotel in Yangon in 2016.
