MGM Resorts Plans Global Expansion
MGM Resorts International announced plans to launch many new properties in gateway cities and resort destinations around the world. The hotelier’s rapid expansion comes as a result of a recent partnership with the Hakkasan Group, a London-based lifestyle company that specializes in the development of restaurants, lounges, and nightlife establishments.
The partnership first began in April 2013 with the opening of the Hakkasan Las Vegas Restaurant and Nightclub at the MGM Grand. Since then, the two companies have teamed up to form MGM Hakkasan Hospitality, a joint venture that will roll out MGM brand luxury hotels, resorts, and residential properties with Hakkasan dining and nightlife venues on the premises.
Some of the brands that will be launched worldwide under the new joint venture include Bellagio, Hakkasan, MGM Grand, and Skylofts, a boutique hotel brand associated with MGM Grand hotels.
MGM’s current hotel and resort developments in the Americas, the Middle East, and Asia will become part of the joint venture, as well as the Hakkasan projects in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The two companies plan to launch their first properties primarily in international gateway cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and London.
