JAL, Bangkok Airways to Expand Codeshare Agreement
Japan Airlines and Bangkok Airways announced plans to increase the number of flights covered by their existing codeshare agreement.
Beginning May 7, Japan Airlines will be able to place its code on eight Bangkok Airways-operated flights between Bangkok and various destinations throughout Southeast Asia. The destinations include Yangon, Nai Pyi Taw, and Mandalay in Myanmar, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap in Cambodia, Vientiane and Luang Prabang in Laos, and Chiang Rai in Thailand.
The new codeshare flights are currently awaiting government approval.
The two airlines first began their codeshare agreement in 2012. The original agreement covered flights operated by Japan Airlines between Bangkok and Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda, and Kansai International Airport in Japan, as well as well as Bangkok Airways-operated flights between Bangkok and Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Ko Samui, Thailand, and Mumbai, India.
