Syphax Airlines announced it will commence direct service between Montreal and Tunis, the capital city of Tunisia, on April 25. The new flights will operate once a week, using Airbus A-330-200 aircraft.

Tunis-bound flights are scheduled to depart from Trudeau International Airport in Montreal on Friday evenings, and will last approximately seven and a half hours.

The aircraft is designed to seat 277 passengers, with 250 in economy class and 27 in business class.

The service marks the first direct flight between Tunis and a North American city. Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport currently provides direct flights to about 130 destinations worldwide, and plans to add direct flights to 28 new locations in Europe this summer.

Syphax Airlines, which was founded in 2012, carried half a million passengers last year. The airline serves 8 destinations in Europe and the Middle East, including Paris, Rome, Brussels, Belgrade, Istanbul, Jeddah, Benghazi, and Tripoli.
