United Airlines to Launch Los Angeles-Melbourne Service

United Airlines announced it will begin new nonstop service between Los Angeles and Melbourne, Australia on October 26.  The service will operate six times a week, using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

From Los Angeles, flights will depart at 10:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and arrive in Melbourne at 9:15 a.m. two days later.  On Thursdays, flights will depart Los Angeles at 9:30 p.m., and arrive in Melbourne at 8:15 a.m. two days later.  The service will not operate on Tuesdays.

Flights from Melbourne will depart at 11:15 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and will arrive in Los Angeles at 6:50 a.m. the same day.  Flights will depart at 3:15 p.m. on Saturdays, and arrive in Los Angeles at 10:15 a.m. the same day.  Flights to Los Angeles will not operate on Thursdays.

United’s 787-9 Dreamliners will be outfitted with 252 seats, including 48 lie-flat seats in United BusinessFirst, and 204 in economy, 63 of which will be economy plus.  Seats in United BusinessFirst will offer power outlets, USB ports, and multi-course meals, while seats in economy plus will offer up to 5” of additional legroom.
