RwandAir and Bombardier Aerospace announced the delivery of a dual-class Q400 NextGen turboprop aircraft, fulfilling an order placed on April 22, 2013. The two companies celebrated the newest addition to RwandAir’s fleet at a ceremony in Toronto, at Bombardier’s Q400 NextGen manufacturing site.

RwandAir’s dual-class Q400 NextGen seats 67 passengers.  The aircraft are powered by PW150A engines and operate at a cruising speed of 16-25% faster than competitors. The plane also produce 30-40% fewer carbon dioxide emissions than similar capacity turboprops.

RwandAir is the 15th operator of Q400 and Q400 NextGen aircraft in Africa.  The Q400 NextGen joins RwandAir’s current fleet of four Boeing 737 aircraft and a Bombardier Dash 8-200 turboprop. The airline also received two Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen aircraft in November 2012.
