Aeromexico Traffic Up for January
Aeromexico announced its operating results for January 2014. The Mexico City-based carrier said that its total traffic for last month increased 21.6% year-over-year, while its total capacity increased by 13.6%.
Domestically, the airline saw 862 million revenue passenger kilometers, or RPKs, in system traffic, up from January of 2013’s 731 million RPKs, a 17.9% increase. Internationally, Aeromexico experienced a 23.6% increase in system traffic, up to 1.605 billion from last year’s 1.298 billion.
The airline’s capacity, measured in available seat kilometers or ASKs, increased by 8.9% domestically, up to 1.146 billion from last year’s 1.052 billion. Internationally, the carrier reported 1.940 billion ASKs, an increase of 16.5% from last year’s 1.665 billion.
Meanwhile, the airline reported an increase in load factor as well, with domestic numbers up 5.9 percentage points to 75.3%. The airline’s international load factor also increased, up 4.7 percentage points from last year’s 78.3%, for this year’s number of 83.0%. Overall, the airline saw a total increase of 5.3 percentage points year-over-year, up to 80.1% from last year’s 74.8%.
