Aeromexico Profit Soars 72% in Fourth Quarter

Aeromexico announced unaudited financial results for the quarter and year ended December 31, 2013.

For the fourth quarter, the Mexico City-based carrier reported an operating profit of 634 million pesos ($47.88 million), a 71.8% year-over-year increase.  Operating profit for the year was 2.4 billion pesos, a 6.3% increase over 2012.

Revenue for 2013 increased 1.6% to 39.85 billion pesos.  For the fourth quarter, revenue was up 8.7% to 10.7 billion pesos, compared to the same period in 2012.

Passenger revenue per available seat kilometer for the year was down 4% from 2012.  For the fourth quarter, the airline saw a year-over-year decrease of 2.8%.

For the year, system traffic, as expressed in revenue passenger kilometers, was up 6.5% on a capacity increase of 5.8%.

Aeromexico’s load factor, representative of the percentage of seats filled, was 78.6%, up 2.7 percentage points, in the fourth quarter.  For the year, the load factor was 77.2%, up .6 percentage points.
