United Airlines announced the opening of a new Global Services reception and check-in area at Newark Liberty International Airport on Tuesday.  In addition, the carrier expanded its Mercedes tarmac transportation service to Newark Liberty.

United’s new lobby is available exclusively for members of the airline’s Global Services program, as well as passengers traveling on long-haul international flights in United Global First.  Passengers can access the lobby through the Premier Access entry at Door 4 of Terminal C.

The lobby’s reception area features four full-service check-in stations, as well as offers direct access to four new security lanes.  Depending on demand, the lanes can be used as either TSA PreCheck lanes or standard security lanes for those not eligible for PreCheck.

In addition, United debuted its Mercedes tarmac transportation service this week in Newark.  The service was previously only available in Houston and Chicago.  The airline now offers the chauffer service to select Global Services members and United Global First passengers who are connecting at Newark Liberty to a domestic or international flight.

The service uses Mercedes-Benz GL-Class vehicles to drive eligible passengers with applicable itineraries across the tarmac to their connecting flights.  United plans to expand the service to other U.S. hubs later this year.
