SriLankan Airlines to Join Oneworld Later this Year

SriLankan Airlines announced that it will join oneworld alliance later this year.  In addition, the carrier said that it has agreed to codeshare with two other oneworld members, namely Royal Jordanian and S7 Airlines.

When SriLankan Airlines joins oneworld, it will add three new destinations to the alliance’s network: Kochi, Tiruchirappalli, and Thiruvananthapuram, India.

Once SriLankan is in oneworld, members of the airline’s FlySmiles frequent flyer program will be able to earn and redeem miles on other oneworld member carrier-operated flights, while top tier members will have access to the alliance’s airport lounges.  In addition, members of other oneworld member airlines’ frequent flyer programs will be able to earn and redeem miles on SriLankan flights.

SriLankan Airlines is the national flag carrier of Sri Lanka.  It currently serves 65 destinations in over 35 countries around the world.
