Group Plans to Revive Eastern Air Lines Name
A new company is reviving a respected name in aviation: Eastern Air Lines.
Eastern Air Lines Group announced it has begun the necessary steps with the Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration to take to the air.
Eastern has filed for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. It will begin its Part 121 certification with the FAA shortly.
The new Eastern will operate Airbus A320 aircraft out of its hub at Miami International Airport. It is not affiliated with the previous Eastern Air Lines, which was founded in 1926 as Pitcairn Aviation and ceased operations in 1991.
