Air Algerie announced a commitment for eight Boeing Next Generation 737-800 aircraft.  The order, when finalized, will be valued at $724 million at list prices.

The Boeing 737-800 is part of the 737 Next Generation family, which is made up of the -600, -700, -800, and -900 models of the aircraft.  It is the third generation of the 737 and has been produced since 1996.  The aircraft can be configured to seat 162 passengers in a two-class layout or up to 189 in one class.

All of Air Algerie’s 737-800s will feature Boeing Sky Interior, which features decorative sculpted sidewalls, larger windows, LED mood lighting, and larger pivot overhead storage bins.

Air Algerie is the flag carrier of Algeria, and is based in Algiers, at Houari Boumedienne International Airport.  The carrier serves over 40 destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
